Job Description


The primary focus of the Print Project Manager/Buyer is to work in conjunction with the Client’s central print and merchandising procurement teams to select the most appropriate supplier, negotiate costing and time scales, manage benchmark information, and ensure that internal processes are followed at all times. This position requires extensive background in print collateral and print production workflow, and a firm understanding of printing and merchandising industry terminology and methodology. Problem solving skills and the ability to react to and resolve issues quickly are a must.

Timely requests for quotations/order processing and project workflow management are the responsibility of the Print Project Manager/Buyer. This position requires the ability to multitask and manage multiple high-priority projects at one time. The Client must be updated regularly regarding project status, and the Print Project Manager/Buyer will own relationship development with both the Client and Vendors. Superior customer service skills are a must, and the appropriate candidate will be comfortable interfacing with the client, at various levels, in a professional and timely manner. SOP must be followed at all times.

Key Responsibilities:


■   Work with a select Vendor panel to procure the most cost-effective solution for various high-end marketing print and merchandise (including packaging, boxes and ribbons) projects

■   Provide technical input and advice on all projects

■   Ensure timely delivery, to specification, and to quality and contractual targets

■   Develop a strong grasp of Williams Lea Tag SOP, and how it delivers added value to the client

■   Gather accurate information from Client and formulate full production briefs

■   Provide detailed print specifications to suppliers

■   Maintain detailed job history information

■   Develop strong relationships with Vendors

■   Implement and utilize management information systems

■   Ensure best practices in conjunction with wider Williams Lea operations group

■   Track and analyze benchmarking information, communicated monthly to the Production and Account Managers


■   Ability to utilize and manage projects through Williams Lea Tag’s chosen e-procurement systems

■   Ability to demonstrate and express an informed understanding of how e-procurement provides business advantage to the Client


■   Work within Williams Lea Tag operating budget, change management, and billing process

■   Ensure best practices and procedures are followed and supported by documentation

Client Management

■   Attend customer meetings (virtual)

■   Define new business opportunities

■   Develop solid understanding of Client’s business and industry sector

■   Build Client relationships and manage perceptions and expectations

■   Own and resolve Client complaints

Business Development

■   Demonstrate an understanding of the technological direction of the industry and how these advances benefit the Client

■   Identify and develop opportunities that align with the business plan


■   Attend supplier meetings (virtual) and manage relationships and expectations

■   Resolve complex supplier issues, escalate to Production and Account Managers as appropriate

Personal Development

■   Take responsibility for own performance management and professional development

■   Promote the Williams Lea Tag culture by living the values and leading by example

■   Coach and support peers as appropriate


■   Ensure results of any customer satisfaction survey and general customer feedback is acted upon where necessary

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications:

■   3 years previous experience in a marketing print and merchandising environment

■   Experience in management of a budget and achieving targets

■   Ability to build relationships and develop new business

■   Committed, resilient and prepared to work extra hours as required

■   Service minded, proven client management skills

■   Experience of working in an environment where priorities are constantly changing

■   Can manage change, and keep a clear perspective of end goals

■   Team worker, with positive outlook who can inspire and motivates peers

■   Experience of set up situations would be a benefit  - constantly seeking solutions

■   Focus on project management, timely delivery and achievement of Key Performance Indicators

■   Must be computer literate, appreciate the advantages of technology
